Dead Island 2 is getting a free update next month, which will include a new co-op horde mode known as Neighborhood Watch and New Game Plus.
“Taking place over the span of five fictional days, Neighborhood Watch sees a group of college kids – the Bobcats – defend their frat house from an approaching zombie horde,” reads Neighborhood Watch’s description. “Initially, you and your friends complete a variety of missions, setting traps, and stockpiling weapons as you prepare your defences.
“Then, on the fifth and final day, the zombie onslaught begins! If your defences, skills, and teamwork are up to the task, you might just live to tell the tale.” You can check out a trailer for Neighborhood Watch below.

A recently leaked image purportedly showing Sony’s heavily discussed but still officially under-wraps PlayStation 5 Pro appears to have received corroboration from an unexpected source. A near-identical design has now been spotted in the background of Sony’s newly unveiled official PlayStation 30th anniversary artwork.

Last week, prolific leaker bilbil-kun shared details of Sony’s still unannounced PS5 Pro, alongside an illustration of its outer shell. While it mostly retained the PS5’s familiar open-shirt design, it included one notable change: in place of the single diagonal stripe found on the body of the PlayStation Slim, the leaked PS5 Pro design featured three diagonal ridged lines.

UPDATE 4/9/2024 5.30pm: Following reports an Xbox release for upcoming Soulslike Enotria: The Last Song is back on the cards after intervention by Microsoft, amid claims it had ignored developer Jyamma Games for months, the studio has made it official.

“We would like to officially thank Phil Spencer and his team for reaching out so promptly and helping to resolve our situation,” Jyamma wrote in a statement shared on social media. “We would also like to thanks our amazing community for all the support shown in the recent days. Your voice has been heard very loud and clear, and your commitment has been heartwarming.”

UPDATE 5/8/2024: Baldur’s Gate 3’s latest and much-anticipated patch is here, developer Larian announced today.
This patch (or, Patch 7, to give it its full name) is now available on PC, with console and Mac versions currently set to arrive in October.
Patch 7 adds new evil endings, the studio’s own Mod Manager (“Browse, install, and use mods created by the community,” Larian says) and some revamped split screen gameplay.

Gearbox founder Randy Pitchford has defended recent flops such as the Borderlands film and its Risk of Rain 2 DLC by comparing the company to one of the most highly-regarded bands of all time. Yes, The Beatles.
Replying to a user who had commented on the developer’s recent “judgement and shot calling ability”, Pitchford stated he was “going to keep making stuff” and subsequently brought the English rock band into the conversation.
“I wish everything could be a hit, but that is not how it works,” Pitchford wrote in the exchange on social media platform X (spotted by PC Gamer). “The greatest musical act of all time, The Beatles, had a 25 percent hit rate.”

Konami has announced the Castlevania Dominus Collection, a re-release of classic games from the series that originally launched on Nintendo DS.

As revealed during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, the collection features Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow, Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin, and Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia. In addition, two bonus games are included: Haunted Castle (the arcade version of Castlevania) and Haunted Castle Revisited (a reimagined version).

The collection is available now for Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam).

That ever growing pile of video game statue memorabilia is getting bigger.
First4Figures is releasing both a Big Boss statue based on Metal Gear Solid 3 and a Metroid Prime Samus Gravity Suit statue.
The Big Boss statue is “inspired by the poignant ending of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, where Big Boss salutes at The Boss’ grave as a final tribute to his mentor”. This, First4Figures says, symbolises Big Boss’ “unwavering respect and the complex emotions he carries after a mission filled with betrayal and sacrifice”.

Konami has finally acknowledged the possibility of Metal Gear Solid 4 being part of an expected Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2.

Last year, the company released Master Collection Vol. 1, which includes the first three Metal Gear Solid games plus some extra classics.

However, a second volume is widely expected to continue the story with Metal Gear Solid 4, 5, and Peace Walker, with fans digging around on the Konami website and the first volume’s game files for details.

Diablo 4’s March of the Goblins event is making a return next week.
Blizzard hosted a March of the Goblins event across both Diablo 4 and Diablo Immortal in June as a thank you “for being part of the Diablo community through another year of fighting back the demonic forces of Hell”. And it seems the event was so successful Blizzard is bringing it back again.
From 27th August to 3rd September, you’ll be able to seek out “hordes of these treasure hoarders to pilfer their loot bags for increased gold and coveted drops”.
