Concord sales fail to lift off on Steam, where just 660 people played at launch

PlayStation multiplayer shooter Concord has suffered a terrible launch on Steam, where just 660 people played concurrently over the weekend at the game’s peak.

The last 24 hours have seen this number falling further still – now, with a daily peak of just 267 players.

Concord is also available on PlayStation 5, of course, though it doesn’t seem to have made a huge impact there, either. Looking through Sony’s PlayStation Store by “Best Selling” games finds Concord around 30-something places down. (Black Myth: Wukong, predictably, is currently top.)

After eight years in development, Concord has arrived to muted fanfare, in a landscape already saturated by live-service games, and in the same week as breakout hit Black Myth: Wukong.

Sonic Rumble won't include gacha mechanics as Sega says they're "shunned" in West

Sonic Rumble, Sega’s forthcoming mobile and PC game, won’t have gacha mechanics because they’re not popular in the west.
The 32-player battle royale will be free-to-play but won’t be pay-to-win, with a season pass as its main monetisation.
“We’re aiming for a casual system that allows you to just buy what you want quickly for a small, fixed amount, rather than a gacha system that gives you a certain probability of obtaining items,” game director Makoto Tase told Automaton.

Suda51 and Swery's 2.5D slasher parody Hotel Barcelona delayed into next year

Hotel Barcelona, the side-scrolling slasher movie parody from wonderfully oddball designers Goichi “Suda51” Suda and Hidetaka “Swery” Suehiro, has been delayed from 2024 into next year so developer White Owls can “keep polishing it and making it better”.

Suda51 (No More Heroes, Shadows of the Damned) and Swery (Deadly Premonition, The Good Life) shared a first look at Hotel Barcelona last year, unveiling a game in which renowned serial killers from all over the US descend on the titular Pittsburgh hotel for reasons not entirely clear.

Motives probably aren’t a priority, however, when dealing with a game whose novice federal marshal protagonist Justine also happens to have an insane serial killer named Dr. Carnival living inside of her. “Will she be able to ex…
